Kulaku will represent Indonesia in Youth Co:Lab Asia Pacific Summit

Kulaku Indonesia was chosen as the winner selected by UNDP Indonesia and will represent Indonesia with the second winner at the Youth Co:Lab Asia and Pacific Summit, where young entrepreneurship ecosystem stakeholders will be present, including young entrepreneurs, business representatives and government. Participants will present their ideas to a wider audience involving others from across Asia Pacific during the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit scheduled for June this year.

Youth Co:Lab itself is a program conducted by UNDP Indonesia as part of an effort to provide job access to youth in Indonesia, the United Nations Development Agency is leading together with the Citi Foundation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports. This program has a focus on developing young entrepreneurs throughout Indonesia. 6 winners were selected from 40 participants to receive financial assistance and post-program assistance to develop their business.

Organized with venture capitalist Kinara Indonesia, the Demo Day Youth Co:Lab Bootcamp was divided into 5 categories; Creative economy, tourism, agriculture, environment – ​​focusing on waste management, education and capacity building. Each participant is required to present their business idea that helps achieve the sustainable development goals for 5 minutes. The participants were assessed based on business continuity, business sustainability, innovation, capacity to run a business and level of personal motivation.

Participants were coached on preparation and presentation skills by Kinara Indonesia and Universitas Gadjah Mada. The jury panel consisted of representatives from companies in various industries including Waste4Change, Tiket.com, TaniHub, and representatives from government ministries including the Ministry of Agriculture as well as the Creative Economy & Tourism.

Of the six winners selected, three winners will be sponsored by UNDP and the other three by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The support involves funding and mentoring to help guide the company to the next stage.
